Pokémon, a game with wild success has come upon its 25th anniversary. Throughout 2021, Pokémon plans on releasing feature-themed concerts, exhibits for different Pokémon, cards, figures, and many more exclusive items and events. Eleven different artists have been confirmed to perform for the concerts and events; however, only three names have been announced. Apparel, items, and concerts are found on the Pokémon25 website.
The first artist, Post Malone, has several triple-platinum albums with his most popular songs Circles, Rockstar, Sunflower, and Better Now. His song Congratulations also received certified Diamond. He previously worked with Sony to create the song Sunflower used in their movie Spider-Man: into the Spider-Verse.
When Pokémon announced Post Malone as their first concert, many fans were shocked. The first concert aired online on YouTube and Twitch, on February 27th, at 7 PM ET. Post Malone sang three of his most popular songs Circles, Psycho, and Congratulations. He also performed a cover for the song Only Wanna Be With You; which was originally sung by Hootie and The Blowfish.
The concert aired with several million live watchers on YouTube and Twitch. Following the first airing, many fans continued watching the recordings on YouTube or as a Twitch Vod. With the success of their first concert, Pokémon plans to continue collaborating with music artists.
Following this event, popular artist Katy Perry announced she would also work with Pokémon for their 25th-anniversary event. Her concert date has not been announced nor has it been confirmed she will appear for a live concert similar to Post Malone's. Although with the massive success, it will come as no surprise if she does.

When Katy Perry was asked about Pokémon, she stated, “Pokémon has been a constant in my life from playing the original video games on my Game Boy, to trading Pokémon TCG cards at lunch, to the adventures of catching Pokémon on the street with Pokémon GO. I’ve even visited the Pokémon Café in Japan while on tour! It is an honor to be chosen to help celebrate a franchise that has given me so much joy in the last 25 years, and to be able to watch it evolve in the ways it’s provided that kind of electric joy for the kids in my life and around the world.” Quoted by Press Pokémon.
Pokémon partnered with the Universal Music Group which consists of almost every big music producer and artist. Post Malone, Katy Perry, and J Balvin all work under UMG. UMG has not made a comment, but the third announced artist J Balvin said, "Pokémon is pulling out all the stops for P25 Music, and I’m thrilled to join the program as one of its premier collaborators---I’m looking forward to adding my own unique flavor to this huge Pokémon party and adding more good vibes to the celebration."
