Are steroids the new normal?

Is social media pushing steroids on young adults around the world?

Social media's influence on gym culture is a very slippery slope, and it all starts with people who claim to be natural lifters and are obviously enhanced. This deception is leading young lifters toward experimental substances like TRT, peptides, SARMs, and even the big one, Trenbolone.

It is now much easier to access steroids. There are many online sites like Chemco, Labcorp, and Titan. Within a few clicks, the substances are in the cart and on their way. There is also the modern push of peptides, which are short chain amino acids used to form a peptide bond. Peptides can be anything from collagen to insulin; they stimulate the body to produce more of something it already produces naturally.

Synthetic peptides are lab versions of actual peptides that are made to completely change the structure of one's body by modifying signals sent from one part of the body to another. Synthetic peptides are new; therefore, there is little research out there on them. But with the lack of trust in the Medical Establishment, that worsened over the pandemic, people have been more driven than ever to try peptides.

So how are these pushed onto young adults and teenagers? It is all comparison. The Tren Twins are a YouTube sensation. The twins have grown their following by being honest about their Trenbolone use. They have never lied about their natty status; they have been open with their fans about what they do, and how it has affected them.

I recently polled a small sample group of ten or so young adults and teenagers at my local gym. When asked if they feel pressured to take steroids because of social media 8 out of the 10 people asked said yes. One even said they have looked into buying steroids or peptides in the last week. An influencer they followed promoted them, confessed they had used them, and stated wouldn't look the way they do without them.

The people who said no both had the same response. They didn’t want to have the long-term side effects caused by steroids, because it is a big risk. Although many have tried to convince others there is a safe way to use steroids, it just isn't true. No matter how much you do or how safely you do it, there will always be side effects and risks that come with steroid use.

You can't compare yourself to others; comparison is the thief of joy. You lose sight of the progress you have made on your own. No one else has the same path, the same story, or the same goals. Wake up every day and be the best version of yourself you can every single day.
