"WVC mixx" - a playlist est.2025

The ultimate playlist to get your day started at Wabash valley college

As a music lover, I can't go a mile without anything playing on the background. Whether it is a short walk to Dollar General or a long stroll around town, I always have to carry my earphones with me to have the motivation moving forward. Music has always been there with me through every up and down, and it's not an exaggeration to say my mood depends on it.

Since the first day I entered Wabash Valley College until now, with the year is approaching its end, each memory I made at Wabash is attached with a song. That is, whenever I press the "play" button, all emotions flood back allowing me to live the moment again. Just like yesterday once more. And that is both a blessing and a curse. But, no matter what, I truly appreciate the time I've had at Wabash; because the memories, they happen for a reason. They all happen in a way to shape me into the person I am today and, even more than that, add into the completion of the playlist of my life.

This article summarizes my year at WVC as a Spotify playlist. I will include the link at the end of the article so you can enjoy it without any interruption. There are 16 songs with each (or some) representing the corresponding month. This is the first time I have attempted writing this type of content, so I hope you like it!

August

birds of a feather

This song was my anthem throughout August, the month I returned to Wabash. Most of my friends left because they were internationals, but whenever "Birds of a Feather" was played, it reminded me I was lucky enough to still have some on my side and would soon meet new people. Also, it was nice to be on campus again and immerse myself in the busy back-at-school atmosphere.

September

about you

As the excitement of the day was fading, I caught myself putting "About You" on repeat when the night started to take over. It reminded me of last year, when I was in one of the biggest battles of my life. Ever since I have tried to forget everything and move on. However, this song never failed to bring back the lingering memories. It reminded me of the time I felt like the happiest one alive, of the person I used to swear was my whole world, but was never mine to lose. It hurt to be reminded that way, but somehow, I couldn't stop the song until I felt the peace and fell asleep.

october

apt, lily of the valley

This was hands down my favorite songs to blast in the shower. APT by ROSÉ and Bruno Mars ruled the Internet during October. It was blasted in almost every car on the street, restaurant and story post on Instagram. The playful melody as a product of K-pop and US/UK gave the song a unique vibe that got me on my feet dancing even at my lowest point.

Towards the end of the month, my friends and I went on a road trip to New Hampshire. When we were on our way back, "Lily of the Valley" was playing on the radio, and I thought that was by chance the best soundtrack for the recap of the trip. The song perfectly captured the beauty of nature of the town, the fresh air from the lake and the calming, healing vibe as we spent a day out together.

november

number one girl

Rosé, my favorite songwriter, dropped the first album, "rosie," of her solo career and this song in specific for me. The first time I listened to it I felt the shiver all over my body. It was like she took the ingredients from my life and personality to cook this wonderful, heartbreaking song. November is also my birthday month, so needless to say, it's "number one girl" (me) month.

December

Christmas tree

Christmas vibes began to diffuse in every corner of the street during this time. We traveled around Market Street on the carriage to look at Christmas trees while the song with the same name was playing in my headphones. The song made my heart flutter every time, so when I first discovered it, I couldn't stop playing and sharing it with everyone I knew.

january

a night to remember

This month was the celebration of Vietnamese Lunar New Year, so we gathered to cook a meal together, sing karaoke and fire fireworks. It was one of the best night I've ever had, and it will, no doubt, remain in my core memory for many years to come.

February

heavenly

Love was everywhere in the air for Valentine's month. Although none of us had a date, we dressed up, went to Prom and took some photos. My roommate also prepared a plate full of chocolate desserts, which she decorated with flowers and candles. Everything altogether created a "Heavenly" Valentine's season.

march

luther

I was so proud and thrilled to discover this song. It felt like one moment you are looking at the universe, moon and stars through a telescope, then in a blink, you're standing above everything and looking down, fully in control of all forces. Words can't describe how much I love this song, and since I have basically replayed it since I found it, March is officially "luther" month.

april

thang tu la loi noi doi cua em, hero

The Vietnamese version based on the infamous anime "Your Lie in April," is our anthem for every April. April is not April without listening to this song and watching the anime. I specifically love playing it on the piano, which in my opinion, is the most perfect instrument to interpret the whole meaning and value of the song.

The official OST of Weak Hero Class 2 just got released this month after almost 3 years since season 1. One of the best K-dramas—it kept me hooked from the beginning until the end. It had me eagerly awaiting the next season. Last season ended on a cliffhanger. I've spent the last 2 days to finish season 2, and it was truly worth waiting.

You have reached the end of the playlist. Thank you for reading this article and reminisicing my days at WVC with me. It has been a wonderful year with many regrets and much happiness to remember. I will forever be grateful for everything I have gained and lost, and everyone I have been so lucky to meet and know. I have taken away a lot of lessons, and they will remain as one of my most beautiful memory in life.

As promised, here is the link to the completed playlist. I hope you enjoy!
